PAX 2 Tips & Tricks

Even though the PAX 2 is one of the smartest vaporizers we've seen we have some tips to get the most our of your sessions.

Grind

Grind your material as finely as possible! This will help the heat conduct evenly throughout your pack.

Try turning your regular 3 or 4 piece grinder upside down for a finer grind or if you're using a 2 piece grinder, just give your material some extra time to get it fine.

If you have access to a grader style grinder or a fine grider like the Magic Flight Finishing Grinder or New Vape’s Fine Grinder those will work great.

Pack

The PAX 2 works best tightly packed, helping the heat spread throughout the bowl. You can use the lid to firmly tamp down the contents of the oven.

Smaller loads still need to be tightly packed for best performance. If you find yourself doing half packs regularly consider picking up the PAX Pusher from New Vape or the Half-Pack Oven Lid from PAX to get good results without loading all the way up.

Draw

Nice and easy with that draw! Like most conduction vaporizers, you will overwhelm the heater and get wispy vapor if you pull too hard on it. A gentle, cigar-like draw is best to start, and I like to settle into short gentle draws.

New Vape has also created an oven lid with holes drilled into it for better airflow for those that can’t stand restrictive draws. It increases the air flow by about 30%, but the vapor thickness suffers.

Should I Stir?

The PAX 2 will heat your herbs evenly throughout the load without stirring. I’ve found a tiny amount of color left in the material that is in direct contact with the oven door as it doesn’t heat up. It’s not enough for me to want to open it up and stir, and I’m fairly picky about that kind of stuff, so I’d say skip it.

Flip It!

If your herbs are sticky and packed tightly enough they will form a puck in the oven that sticks together. Flip the puck out on you palm, and put it back in upside down.  This will get the oven door side of the load a chance to cook all the way through.
