Boundless Tera Vaporizer Herb Chamber - Planet of the Vapes

Convection with a Twist

So the Boundless team took a couple things they learned from their first fully convection vape, the Boundless CFV and parlayed that knowledge into the Tera. The one bit that seems most interesting is the use of a fully convection heater combined with an aluminum heat-sink chamber. We think this is a great idea.

You may remember the CFV had some swappable "heat retention rings", one of which is aluminum. That sparked the idea that they might be able to impart some 2nd hand conduction heating to the Tera by adding a beefed up version of the same idea.

Efficient, Full Extraction

The idea here is that at the start of a session you are heating primarily via convection, getting great flavor and not destroying any of the more delicate flavor compounds. As the session progresses, heat builds up in the aluminum heat sink chamber and passively adds some conduction into the mix. Just enough that it's not cooking your herbs in between inhales, but aiding in fully extracting everything in your herbs through a combination of convection and conduction heating. And no stirring :)

That's the theory at least and something that we've experienced with the Mighty vaporizer. We'll give you our full thoughts on how this performs once we received our pre-production sample.

Boundless Tera Vaporizer Dual Removable Batteries - Planet of the Vapes

Dual Swappable 18650 Batteries

That's right, these madmen have stuffed two 18650 batteries in this beast and have given you access to change them out as you see fit. We're not 100% sure what the specs of the batteries the Boundless Tera  will ship with, but sounds like the guys at Boundless are running the pre-production models through the paces with a dual 30 Amp 2500mAh setup.

More Power, More Sessions

Our guess is the dual battery move was another lesson learned from the CFV. To do convection right and maintain enough juice to be able to take a vape out for the night you need quite a bit of power. Hopefully this extra power will give you give us a solid number nice long sessions.

30 Second Heat Up

As we hear it now with the 2500mAh setup the Tera will get up to 370 F in 30 seconds and to 446 F (max temp) in 41 seconds. Very good times for a convection vaporizer.  We're guessing you will want to tag on a bit more time for that first draw to heat soak the chamber a bit.

USB Charging

The Boundless Tera will charge up with a USB connection or of course you can pop those swappable batteries into a wall charger (def will be our move).  It sounds like it will have fast charge capabilities with a 2A USB charger.  We don't have any notes on how long it will take with the higher amp charger but with a standard 1A USB charger looks like it took about 3 hours. That's a standard charge time for the first generation USB equipped vapes we've seen but hopefully the 2A charger setup will speed things up a bit.

A little fatter a little shorter

Obviously shoving those dual 18650s in there adds a little weight and heft to the Tera.  The size seems like it will still be pocketable but coming in a bit fatter than the Boundless CFV and at just about the same height but noticeably shorter than the tried and true Boundless CFX.

When and How Much?

Based on what we're hearing on the time line we could be shipping these as soon as mid or late October.  As the releases always go, this could easily get pushed but we like to stay optimistic.  The price is said to be $179.95.

Boundless Tera Vaporizer Glass Mouthpiece - Planet of the Vapes

Glass Mouthpiece in the Future

Though it won't be available right away the Boundless guys are working on a glass mouthpiece accessory for the Tera.  The mouthpiece is connected to the unit with magnets so swapping it out and opening up the chamber will be easy.  And Boundless being Boundless, it's safe to assume that they are working on a water pipe adapter as well.
