DaVinci brought something new to CHAMPS in Las Vegas. The MIQRO keeps the essential design and features of their portable IQ vaporizer, but cuts the size by a third and the price and battery life by more than that.
At just over three inches tall, and just under one and a half inches wide, the DaVinci MIQRO is one of the most compact vaporizers around with swappable batteries. It’s just about two-thirds the size of the DaVinci IQ, and its anodized aluminum shell will get warm after some use, just like the larger unit.
The MIQRO’s oven is about half the size of the IQ and can hold up to 0.25 grams, and the improved, adjustable pearl can reduce the size all the way down to 0.1 grams. It takes the MIQRO about 40-50 seconds to reach its vaping temperature, which ranges from room temperature to 430 F. Early feedback suggests sessions are a little less powerful than the full strength IQ.
Isolated air path
Materials matter, and the DaVinci MIQRO’s ceramic oven and ceramic zirconia air path deliver clean flavors with no chance of anything seeping into the vapor. The IQ’s Flavor Chamber has been replaced with a slimmer air tube that’s removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.
A 900 mAh 18350 battery powers the MIQRO vaporizer, and it’s user-swappable, so you can bring an extra charged battery along and pop it in when the first one runs out. Depending on how long you spend away from home, you might not need it, as the MIQRO can last four to six sessions on a single charge. If you choose to charge it over USB, it will take about 90-120 minutes, but you can shorten that with an external battery charger.
DaVinci fans will already be familiar with the grid of LEDs that make up the MIQRO’s interface. This version is a bit scaled down from the IQ’s panel, with just 15 lights that indicate temperature, heat modes and even a session timer. It even has a stealth mode so you can turn the lights out and lay low.
The DaVinci MIQRO also shares smart paths with the larger IQ, which allow you to customize the heat over the course of your session, rather than having to slide the heat up manually. There’s no connected app, so you can’t customize the smart paths, but you will find it a little more elegant than setting a temperature and adjusting it every minute, with features like boost mode that shoot the temperature all the way up to finish off an oven.
In honor of the MIQRO’s compact stature, DaVinci is offering an Explorer’s package (priced at $199), which includes a smell-resistant carrying case for the vaporizer, a carrying can for a spare battery and extra herbs, a spare battery, a grinder card, outer case, and some extra pieces for maintenance like a second pearl and post.
The DaVinci MIQRO vaporizer is now available from DaVinci and will be available from select retailers shortly, with a retail price of $149 ($199 for the Explorer's Collection).
