Haze Square Tips and Tricks

We've got the best tips and tricks to get the most out of your Haze Square.

The Haze Square is here, with four bowls, instant heating, and a bit of a learning curve. We’ve spent a lot of time with it and scoured the web for any issues you might come across, and assembled these tips and tricks so you can get the most out of it.

Grind and pack

The Haze Square is a full convection vaporizer, so you’ll get the best vapor with a loose, but full pack with dry herbs, and a grind that’s not so fine it can pass through the holes in the pods. The Square lets you dial in your favorite vapor, so try these two methods to see what you like best, and don’t be afraid to mix it up and find your own style:
Fill the pod with a medium grind, with a gentle tamp to make it flat on top.

If you like a finer grind, try filling it three quarters full so the herbs can move a little bit, but not so much that the air digs a hole in the herbs and tunnels through.

Vapor quality tips

The full convection heating and big pods make for some potent, tasty vapor, but sometimes we don’t see the vapor until the third hit, even though the flavor and effects are always there. Follow these tips to keep it running smoothly.

  • Dirty screens can cause all kinds of problems, from weak vapor to combustion, so keep your upper screens and pods clean. We like to pack all four pods at once, and empty them at once when done with all of them, and this is the perfect opportunity to clean all the screens with an alcohol wipe.
  • Take longer, stronger draws. Anything less than a three second draw can be wispy, and the longer you draw the thicker it gets. Also, as the heat builds after a few seconds you can draw stronger to make it even thicker.
  • If you’re having problems, check your mouthpiece and silicone seals to make sure you don’t have any air leaks. Use the Deep Cleaning Tray to tighten up the assembly of the silicone seal around the bowls.
  • Tweak those temperatures with the app. If you like lower temperatures you’ll probably be fine out of the box, but if you like higher temperatures like we do, you might need to raise the temperature. Our two highest custom temperature settings are 445° F for dry herbs and 480° F for concentrates. Use the temperatures as a guide and don’t be afraid to go higher than you’d expect.

Button orientation

The Square can be used with the button-side up or down without much change in performance, but we thought it was more comfortable with the button-side down. The weight of the Square helps hold the button in place so we don’t have to pinch it so tightly during our draw.

Keep the battery charged

With every on-demand convection vaporizer we’ve tried, the vapor gets weaker as the battery drains, and the Square is no exception. When we’re vaporizing at home we like to keep it on the charger between bowls, and the rapid USB-C charging makes this a breeze.

First hit combustion

It’s never happened to us, but some have reported combustion on the first hit on a cold Square, and this is due to how it heats up. The coil glows red hot for a second when it heats up from a cold start, when you change the temperature, and if you turn the heater back on right after it times out. If you start your draw while the coil is glowing you can overheat the herbs and combust. To be safe, give the Square an extra second or two before the first hit from a cold start.
