Flowermate has a strong history of making inexpensive, boxey conduction vaporizers that are pocketable and durable, and now they take aim at the dry herb pen-style vaporizer with the Flowermate Slick. It’s an attractive vaporizer shaped like an oversized pen with a carbon fiber finish and magnetic mouthpiece cover. At $79.95, the Slick is a good value combining easy-to-use technology with a solid feature-set.

The Slick vaporizer vibrates when it’s turned on or off, and when it’s ready to vape, a rarity at this price point. The magnetic cover stows neatly out of the way when you’re vaporizing, and the screw on mouthpiece never comes off by accident. It takes three hours to charge via USB, but the battery is removable if you want it faster on an external charger. Vapor from the Slick tastes good with its black ceramic oven and isolated air path.
The first things we noticed about the Flowermate Slick were the removable battery and a magnetic mouthpiece cover that sticks to the bottom and doesn’t get lost when you’re vaporizing. The screw on glass mouthpiece always stays on so herbs don’t spill out in your bag. After a handful of sessions, we thought the vapor was tasty and comfortable, and this vaporizer deserves a deeper look. With good battery life and a low price tag, the Slick will appeal to budget shoppers and first timers.
The dry herb, pen-style vaporizer needs a makeover, and we’re excited to have another solid option in the catalog soon. The X MAX V2 Pro is also $79.95, but has an unorthodox control scheme, and the mouthpiece comes off too easily. The Focus Pro has a fuller feature set for just $20 more. Flowermate’s Slick shows up at the right price with a good build quality from a reputable company. It’s essentially a reshaped Flowermate V5.0S, one of our most popular vaporizers, but with a removable battery. Initial tests were promising, with slightly better vapor quality than those other two dry herb pen-style vapes. Keep an eye out for our full review after we put the Slick through its paces.
