Dosing capsules are growing in popularity for their quick and efficient loading, mess-free design, and precise dosages. Let’s break down what they do, how to use them, and why so many vaporizer users swear by them.

What are dosing capsules?

Dosing capsules are small, reusable containers that hold a single portion of dry herb or concentrate for your vaporizer. Think of them like coffee pods for your vape. They sit inside the oven chamber and keep your herb neatly packed while protecting the oven from residue and build-up.

Capsule sizes vary, but generally hold around 0.1 to 0.2 grams of flower. Pre-pack several at once, pop one in when you’re ready, and enjoy a smooth, mess-free session.

Why use dosing capsules?

Dosing capsules offer several key benefits that make them a smart addition to any setup.

  • Quick swaps: Pre-pack a set of capsules and then chain multiple sessions together with minimal downtime.

  • Cleaner oven: Dosing capsules contain all the herbs and keep your oven cleaner for longer.

  • Consistent doses: Nail that perfect dose consistently, every time.

  • Travel-friendly: Pack a handful of dosing capsules for your next on-the-go vaping adventure. Leave the grinder at home!

How to use dosing capsules

  1. Grind your herb with any grinder you have. Whole chunks work, but ground herbs yield the best results.

  2. Fill the capsule up to the top with ground herbs and then use the lid to press and close everything into place. Pack tight for conduction vapes and looser for hybrid and convection vapes.

  3. Pop it into your vape’s oven chamber with the lid side up.

  4. Start your session just like normal. In many cases, you’ll want to raise the temperature higher than usual for the best results.

  5. Swap and repeat. When you’re done, turn the vape off and either wait for the capsule to cool down or dump it onto a hard surface. It’s HOT, so be careful! Reload it or pop another in and repeat!

Which vaporizers work with dosing capsules?

Many modern dry herb vaporizers offer dosing capsules:

  • Storz & Bickel Vaporizers (Volcano Hybrid / Venty / Mighty+ / Crafty+) – Storz & Bickel dosing capsules are compatible with their entire catalog of vaporizers. Just make sure you pick up the necessary reducers for the Volcano Hybrid, Classic, and Plenty vaporizers.

  • POTV Lobo / POTV ONEEach vape has its own POTV dosing capsules, built to match its chamber size for the best airflow and fit.

  • PAX Mini and PAX Plus – We’ve created dosing capsules specifically for these PAX vaporizers (including the PAX 3 and PAX 2)

  • XMAX V3 Pro – Pick up a single capsule or a pack of five with a travel tube!

Pro tips for dosing capsules

  • Pack the capsules how you normally pack your vape. If you pack your conduction vapes tightly, pack your dosing capsule tightly. If you pack your convection vape loosely, pack your capsule loosely as well.

  • Clean regularly. Extended use can clog up your dosing capsules. Soak them in isopropyl alcohol, rinse, and dry for an easy clean.

  • Experiment with temps. Dosing capsules absorb a lot of the heat, which can result in weaker vapor at the start. Use a higher temperature to counteract this.

Are dosing capsules worth it?

It’s pretty hard to argue against them. Dosing capsules keep your vape cleaner, lock in consistent doses, and speed up your time between each session. Many vaporizers include them, and most others offer them as an affordable add-on.

That said, they’re not for everyone. If you mostly vape at home or don’t care about faster reloads, they might just cut your oven size with no real upside.

Dosing Capsule FAQs

Q: Can you use concentrates in dosing capsules?
A: The dosing capsules we offer are specifically designed for dry herbs only. They are NOT compatible with concentrates.

Q: How long do dosing capsules last?
A: With proper cleaning, metal capsules can last indefinitely.

Q: Do they affect vapor quality?
A: A little. The metal will absorb some heat, so you might notice slightly slower or weaker extractions at the beginning. Bump up the temperature to balance it out.

Q: Are dosing capsules safe to use?
A: Yes. Most dosing capsules, like the ones we carry, are made from food-grade stainless steel.

Q: Can you mix different strains in one capsule?
A: Sure, why not! Just grind your different strains together and pack ‘em up!
