How to use the Boundless Tera Vaporizer

The Boundless Tera is easy to get up and running, and our guide will make sure you’re on track.

The Boundless Tera Vaporizer packs a powerful convective heater and swappable 18650 batteries into a tough, elegant package. Best of all, it’s super simple to get the Tera up and running the first time. Our quickstart guide will take you from unboxing all the way through your first session, with some quick cleaning tips for good measure.

What’s in the box

  • Boundless Tera Vaporizer (latest V3 model)
  • Glass Mouthpiece
  • 2 x 18650 2500 mAh Batteries
  • Water Pipe Adapter
  • Stainless Steel Concentrate Pad
  • Stainless Steel Chamber Screens
  • Mouthpiece Screens
  • Cleaning Brush
  • USB Charger
  • User Manual

Charging

The Tera from Boundless is powered by a pair of rechargeable 18650 batteries. You can plug the included USB cable into your smartphone’s USB outlet dongle. It will take about three hours to charge that way, but an external battery charger is a lot faster. To install the batteries, pull outward on the battery cover, and set them in with the positive ends pointing up, towards the mouthpiece.

Controls

To turn on the Tera, press the rectangular power button five times in a row. The screen will light up with the current battery charge and base temperature. Hold the same button for three seconds to start warming it up towards the last used temperature. The buttons to the left and right of the screen change the target temperature. You can press both side buttons at the same time to change between Fahrenheit and Celsius, or press the left button (with the screen on the side closest to you) three times quickly to flip the screen to face the other way, which we think is a bit more intuitive.

Run a burnoff

Before you use the Tera for the first time, we recommend running a burn off cycle to make sure there’s nothing left over from manufacturing or shipping. Turn the Tera on, then press the power button three times to activate concentrate mode. Once it reaches max temperature, blow through the intake hole on the bottom to push hot air through the oven and mouthpiece. Repeat the process until there are no odd smells or visible vapor coming off the Tera’s oven.

A note about the screen

If you tipped your Tera upside down, you may have noticed the oven’s lower screen is simply held in place by gravity. You can leave the screen in for a classic convection session, or remove it to expand the oven size by a little bit, and get a darker, slightly hotter vapor. We recommend trying it out both ways to see what you like better.

Your first herbal session

For the Tera, we recommend a medium-fine grind, but more importantly, a loose pack up to the top of the metal side wall. There should be room for the hot air to move in between your herbs and properly cook them. We recommend starting out on 390 °F for your first session, but beyond that, there isn’t much to know. You can pull fairly light, or a lot stronger, and the Tera will still produce tasty vapor, but make sure to draw for at least three seconds or longer for the best experience. The water pipe adapter can really crank up the vapor volume, if you have clean glass handy.

Concentrates too

While the other instructions are great for herbal use, the Tera vaporizer also has a concentrate mode for stickier substances. Start by removing the lower screen, then take the included mesh pad and place it into the bottom of the oven. Place a very small amount, smaller than a grain of rice, on the center of the pad. Turn on the Tera, then press the concentrate button three times to switch to concentrate mode. Hold the power button for three seconds to turn on the heater. Once it buzzes, take a couple of long, slow draws. The first draw or two will be wispy as the concentrate melts into the pad, and you can keep drawing until it stops producing vapor.

When you’re done, remove the mesh pad quickly or it may set in place until you heat it up again. Just watch out, as it will be hot after use, but you should be able to tap it out by holding the Tera upside down.

Clean up quick

We recommend cleaning up the Tera immediately after each session, to prevent any extra build-up over time. The included cleaning brush has semi-stiff bristles that do a great job cleaning any debris loose from the inside of the oven and the underside of the mouthpiece screen. If your Boundless Tera doesn’t feel so fresh anymore, our cleaning and maintenance guide will walk you through the full teardown process.
