Storz & Bickel Plenty Vaporizer with Coil

Storz & Bickel Plenty Quickstart Guide

If you’re just picking up a Plenty, our quickstart guide will take you through your first full oven.

Storz & Bickel’s Plenty vaporizer is a bit of a cult hit. While many Volcano owners may have never heard of it, a number of devout Plenty worshippers will sing you the praises of this well-priced, direct draw vaporizer. If you’re just getting started with your Plenty, we’ve got you covered, with a step by step guide to unboxing, filling, and enjoying this underrated vaporizer.

Handle with care

Before we get started, it’s worth noting that the exposed metal coil on top of the Plenty will get hot after just a few minutes of use. Make sure to avoid touching it, or setting it down on any temperature-sensitive surfaces.

You can do so by either making sure the rubber nubs on one side are facing down when you set it down, or by jamming the wood end of the included brush in the lower screw hole, propping it upright.

Burn off cycle

Before your first use, we recommend running a burn off cycle to make sure there’s no residue left over from manufacturing or shipping. Simply attach the oven with nothing inside, turn the heat up all the way, and let the Plenty run for five minutes, or until you don’t smell anything off-putting. Let the Plenty cool down again before you use it, as the coil and oven area will be hot.

Grind

Like most vaporizers from Storz & Bickel, you’ll want to use the include plastic mill on your herbs. It will reduce them to a medium-fine consistency that’s just right for the Plenty vaporizer.

Pack

With such loose, fine material, there’s no need to tamp or pack it down at all. We recommend tapping out the contents of the grinder into a piece of paper, and use it as a funnel to get all of the ground herbs into the oven. If you don’t want to load that much, simply insert the concentrate pad (not included) to take up the rest of the space.

Power

Once the Plenty is plugged in, and the oven is loaded, you’re just about ready to go. We recommend starting it out between five and six on the physical wheel on the Plenty’s side. Turn on the power switch on the side, and the orange light will turn on. Squeeze the handle to engage the heater, and you’ll see the temperature increase on the gauge. When it’s time to vape, the Plenty will click, and the small orange light under the temperature gauge will turn off.

Draw

When it comes to method, the Plenty is one of the most forgiving direct draw vaporizers. You can draw as slowly as you like, and you can pull fairly hard without the vapor starting to thin out. If you are pulling too hard, the coil on top will make a light whistling noise that will grow stronger if you inhale faster. You’ll get the best results by drawing just hard enough to almost cause the whistling noise. It doesn’t take long to learn that threshold, and you’ll produce impressive vapor on a wide range above and below it.

Keeping it active

The Plenty doesn’t handle like most vaporizers you might be used to. It will only maintain vaping temperature if you click the handle every so often, otherwise, it will start cooling off. If it does start to cool down, you’ll have to wait until the temperature drops about 30° F to start it heating up again. It can take a minute or two to get back up to temperature again, so make sure to squeeze the trigger every time you hit it if you plan on taking down an oven in one sitting.
