Hybrid vs Classic: Direct draw, Interface, Bluetooth controls
The Hybrid is replacing the Volcano Digit (the digital Volcano vaporizer) in the lineup, and the differences compared to the Volcano Classic are significant.
Volcano Classic
While the Volcano Classic was only missing a few features compared to the Digit, it’s now a far cry from the Hybrid. The Classic has a narrower temperature band (266° F - 446° F), analog controls, and only blows bags. The Classic does not display the temperature on its analog dial, but instead displays numbers 1-9 and has a chart included in the box, which shows what temperatures the numbers correspond to. While the Hybrid has an adjustable shutoff timer, the Volcano Classic has none at all.
Volcano Hybrid
The Volcano Hybrid for sale has digital controls with a wider temperature band (104° F - 446° F), blows bags and has a direct draw whip. It also has a full suite of controls and features, like workflows, through the Bluetooth Storz & Bickel app. The Hybrid delivers slightly more accurate temperature to your herbs with an accuracy of ± 1.5° C / 2.7° F (compared to ± 5° C / 9° F for the Classic). The digital display will show you the current temperature as well as the set temperature.

What about the solid valve?
The Storz & Bickel Volcano Hybrid Vaporizer comes with the Hybrid Starter Set, which works with existing Easy Valve bags and dosing capsules. It requires a different Filling Chamber Reducer than the Classic to use the dosing capsules. While the Hybrid’s whip will fit on the Classic’s Filling Chamber, it doesn’t work with the Classic. The Solid Valve system isn’t compatible with the Volcano Hybrid.

The "DeLorean" vaporizer. An amazing device for the enthusiast and likely exclusively so. Quality is unparalleled in my experience, but to get the best out of it, get a fine grind and pack the bowl with just enough ****** so that when you flip it upside down the *** stays in. Start at 325f or lower and just raise it 10f degrees for each "balloon", to get the most out of your medicine. You'll discover a harmony unique to only you. To put it out there, the cost of *** ****** in the United States has fallen dramatically; i.e. $15-50 for an oz. Consider making use of that when accounting for the large volume of the Volcano bowl, perhaps in a 1:1 ***:*** mix. Do buy the silicon tube attachment to make the most of it, as the ballon bags can get sticky on the inside and put unnecessary strain on the motor. For desktop use, this vaporizer will meet all your needs. While not cheap, you absolutely get what you pay for. It's well built and has a number of accessories to make use easier such as dosing kits and a whip. When it comes to flavor I find that this is almost as good as one of the Solo series vaporizers if you use the bag. The whip plays with the flavor a little even when it's fresh and clean. It's not bad, but if you're flavor chasing stick to the bag. POTV also sells attachments for the bag, like a mini glass bubbler or WPA attachment. You can also attach them to the whip, so you can turn a glass piece into a volcano through the whip with the WPA when you turn the air on. That last part is less useful and more fun. The vapor clouds are reasonably thick. It's not what you'll get out of an on demand hit on the Solo 3 or TM2. The whip doesn't really tend to produce clouds, but you can kick the fan on and I feel that gives more vapor than manually pulling. The bags, when not at lower temps, will produce good vapor consistency. Not the device if you want crazy clouds, but if you want resonable clouds with good consistency in always doing what it's supposed to do this device is spot on. The dosing sizer that you can buy is easy to put in even with arthritic hands with the help of the capsule tool, but the capsules are less easy to handle if you struggle with your fingers. Opening and filling is a task that requires some manual dexterity. They're handy though, and you can make them up, store them, and then pop them in and make a bag on demand. It solves the issue of the stock setup requiring more herb than some may need for a solo flight. No matter what your plans are the machine heats up fairly quickly, retains heat, and can be ready for a session or a quick bag in a reasonable amount of time. The dosing capsules shine here, with being prepped and ready to go you just pop it in the oven, hit the heat, and the bag is ready. Cleaning is fairly easy, and even beyond replacing screens you can replace entire pieces of the oven. From what I can tell if you break something it's often replaceable. The main parts in contact with herb are easy to handle, big plastic wheels, and the other cleaning needs really fall into consumable such as replace tubing on whip or new bag material. The smart features are excellent. Even after Apple banned all vaporizer apps they made a workaround with the web app. There's even Project Onyx for third party support. As a geek the thought of rolling my own code so that my home assistant can turn down the lights and set things to the right temp without me lifting a finger is kind of cool.

I have been a long time user of the previous Volcano Digit and this new Hybrid seems to be the same high quality, it heats up much faster than the old version. I am not convinced the new mounting system is better but time will tell. Buttons are very responsive. They are no longer supporting the Android App for the unit but a web-based app was very easy to connect and use. Thankfully you can turn off the quick fan on/off it does as it reaches temperature with the web-based app as I found that annoying. Definitely louder fan noise than the previous Digit version. Overall it seems like a good unit, time will tell. The OG Digit was a real beast and mine was very many years old when I retired it (still working).
