Storz & Bickel Plenty Tips and Tricks

Take your Plenty to the next level with our tips and tricks to boost your efficiency and improve every draw.

One of the best parts of owning a Storz & Bickel Plenty is just how easy it is. There are no batteries to charge, no connected apps, no bags to clean or whips to unravel -- just turn it on, squeeze the handle, and wait. Still, there are a few Plenty tips and tricks that will help you get the most out of your vaporizer, whether you’re just unboxing it, or you’ve spent years tweaking and tuning the experience.

Stand up straight

The Plenty’s unique design also means it doesn’t stand up straight on its own, and needs a little help. If you don’t mind setting it on its side, you can simply rest it with the rubber nubs facing down -- the right side, if you’re holding it by the handle side. If you’d like it to stand on its own, you can wedge the wooden end of the included brush into the lower central screw hole on the same side. It will act as a kickstand, and the Plenty will stand up straight.

A whistle warning

If you’re pulling too hard on the Plenty, it will still produce vapor, but it won’t be as thick or luxurious. You’ll know you’re inhaling too fast because the metal coil on top of the Plenty will start to whistle slightly, and it will get louder as you pull harder. If you hear the telltale whistle, slow down a bit, and you’ll see better vapor as a result.

Mind the gap

The Plenty works best with a full, but not overly packed oven. As long as the oven is cool, you can press gently on the bottom screen to see how fully it’s packed. It should have just a bit of resistance to it, so that none of the herbs move around inside. If you don’t have enough to fill it, or don’t want to, simply load a layer of herbs into the oven, then place the concentrate pad (not included) on top before twisting the lid into place.

If you often find yourself using the Plenty for personal sessions, the dosing capsule with filling chamber reducer can help alleviate that pain. Just make sure to turn up the heat slightly higher than you’re used to.

Nice and snug

Where the oven threads onto the heating element holds quite firm if you tighten it down, but the plastic threads that hold both halves of the filling chamber together can come loose slightly easier. Be careful not to overtighten these threads, as it will only cause them to slip free more often over time. Instead, twist them just so they’re firmly held together, then stop.

Hot enough?

The Plenty uses a temperature wheel that runs from one to seven. It isn’t the most precise method of setting the temperature, but still covers a fairly wide temperature spectrum. Each zone isn’t an exact temperature setting, but instead a slight range, so you can set it to halfway between four and five, or just a hair past six, if that’s your preferred range. The included operating manual shows a diagram with estimated temperature correlations, plus recommendations for common herb types.

Keep it clean

While our cleaning and maintenance guide will walk you through the steps involved in a full disassembly and cleaning of the cooling unit and oven, you can save yourself a lot of time by keeping the Plenty clean in the first place. After every session, preferably while the oven is still somewhat warm, but has had time to cool off, use the included brush to knock any larger particles from the oven and upper screen. This will help prevent the build-up that eventually causes off-flavors and resistance.
