Cut to the chase - which should I get?

If you’re on a budget but want the best, or are brand new to vaporizing with no gear whatsoever, get the original Mighty. It’s cheaper, the vapor is just as good, and it comes with accessories you need.

If price is no issue, or you’re an avid vaporist and want the latest, grab the Mighty+. You’ll appreciate the quicker heat up time, USB-C charging, and cleaner bowl.

If you’re somewhere in the middle, or still doing your research, read on. We’ve got your answers!

Quick Summary

Similarities

These are still some of the best vaporizers on the market. Top-shelf performance is still at the forefront with a pure, tasty hybrid heating system and medical-grade components. You’ll find consistent, efficient vaporization with either one.

Differences

On top of a few cosmetic differences, the Mighty+ sports faster USB-C charging, a slightly brighter screen, and an updated ceramic filling chamber over the original aluminum material. For %50 less, the original Mighty comes with a grinder and a filling aid. The Mighty+ does not.

Grippier fins with orange highlights

Is grippier a word? Regardless, the Mighty+’s curvier look is easier to hold. The fins on the original were straight and flat, but the new ones curve inward creating two vertical channels that are easy to pinch.

In a purely aesthetic move, the buttons and logo are now orange. The slidelock graphic on top of the cooling unit is now the Storz & Bickel logo instead of a cursive “Mighty”. That should help us tell them apart.

Original Mighty on the Left. Mighty+ on the Right.

Both are wobbly! Smh

For the rest of this comparison, let’s start at the bottom and work our way up, because that’s the first place I looked when I tore into my Mighty+ box. Show me those little feet and how it stands up all by itself when I load the bowl!

Mighty vs Mighty+ Dry Herb Vaporizer Little FeetSee the little feet on the bottom?

The original Mighty dry herb vape had two little bumps on the bottom to help it stand up when the stir tool was reversed. Pull out the stir tool, turn it around, and put it back in. But the Mighty would still fall forward with the slightest bump.

Unfortunately, while the Mighty+ design is better, it’s not perfect. With the stir tool reversed, the bigger feet cause it to lean back, so it doesn’t fall forward anymore. But it also loses some stability towards the back side.

I have no idea why S&B didn’t go with a flat bottom like the Crafty+ vaporizer. The solution we want is right there.

Mighty+ charges better

The single biggest upgrade in the Mighty+ is USB-C charging. It actually charges slower than the Mighty’s barrel-port wall charger (by as much as an hour or two), but it’s universal! I can go just about anywhere and find a USB port to charge from, and probably even an extra cable to use. But if I misplace the charger for my Mighty, sad Jerry.

Mighty vs Mighty+ Dry Herb Vaporizer Charge PortsOriginal Mighty with a Barrel Port on the Left. Mighty+ with a USB-C Charge Port on the Right.

Battery life was pretty similar in my tests, and the charge time through USB-C didn’t impress until I used the Supercharger, for another $25. I’m disappointed this wasn’t included in the box with the Mighty+, because I consider it a must have for my style. I go hard on my Mighty+, and I’m usually not done when it runs out of juice. It’s a game-changer to fully charge the Mighty within an hour. If you’re a heavy user, get the Supercharger.

With the Supercharger, I can charge a dead Mighty+ up to 80% in 40 minutes, or have it ready for a session in just a few minutes. It also unlocks passthrough charging, so you can vape with a dead battery when plugged into the wall. Don’t make this a habit, though. It’s extremely hard on the batteries, and will send your $400 vape to an earlier grave. I do it only occasionally, when in a pinch.

Same display, but slightly brighter

The OLED display is the same in both vapes, but the Mighty+ display is slightly brighter when compared to a new Mighty vaporizer. I was able to see it from all angles in direct sunlight, but only time will tell if it fades like some of the original Mighty displays. If you come from an older Mighty, the Mighty+ display will look very bright!

Cleaner ceramic bowl

The Mighty+ has a ceramic coated bowl that doesn’t seem to affect the vapor, but is easier to clean and hides stains better than the Mighty’s aluminum bowl. Storz & Bickel describes it as more durable and robust. I don’t know about that, but I do know that the ceramic bowl should never look anything like my original Mighty bowl, which is forever stained an amber, tan-ish color. The black ceramic gives the Mighty+ bowl the same look as the Volcano Hybrid, if you’re familiar with that.

Mighty+ comes with an extra Superbooster

No matter what temperature you have it set to, a double-click of the power button will raise the set temperature 27°F (15°C) on both vapes. A triple click on the Mighty+, however, will take it up another level, for a total of 54°F (30°C), but no higher than the top temperature of 410°F (210°C).

UL certified electronics

This is bigger than you’d think. The Mighty+ is the first dry herb vaporizer to get a UL certification. Think about that. No other vaporizer in the world has its internals inspected and approved by a third party.

The Mighty was no slouch, either. It was almost identical to the Mighty Medic, the world’s first medically certified portable dry herb vaporizer. But the UL certification will help some Mighty+ owners sleep better at night.
